Isn’t it true that everyone enjoys a nice belly tickle? What better way to unwind after a long day at work than to watch a hysterically humorous film? So, for your convenience, we’ve compiled a list of some of the funniest movies of all time. Choose one from the list, sit back, relax, and laugh!
Number 10. This Is Spinal Tap.
Spinal Tap is a fictional British heavy metal band in this 1984 mockumentary. The plan was to follow the band on their American tour and document everything that happened. The band’s goal was to depict the rock and roll lifestyle that has long been associated with rock musicians. However, they almost went too far with this, as many “genuine” rock bands thought it truly touched home for them. The film garnered mainly positive reviews at first, but it wasn’t until it was released on VHS in 2002 that it gained a significant cult following. Rob Reiner directed and co-wrote the film.
Number 9. Dumb and Dumber.
Dumb and Dumber is a great American comedy film from 1994. This is frequently the first film that springs to mind when someone is asked to list some humorous movies. Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) are two buddies who embark on a cross-country journey to return a briefcase stuffed with cash. What they didn’t realise was that the briefcase had been deliberately left there to pay a ransom! It was a huge hit upon its initial release, generating over $247 million and cementing Carrey’s and Daniels’ reputations.
Number 8. Young Frankenstein.
Young Frankenstein is the eighth funniest film of all time. Dr. Frederick Frankenstein chooses to continue his grandfather’s research in his Transylvanian estate in this classic horror film parody. His experiments are successful, and he develops a “monster.” However, this causes him and his minions a slew of issues, and things swiftly spiral out of control! Mel Brooks directed Young Frankenstein, which was released in 1974.
Number 7. The Hangover.
I’m confident that out of all the films on the list, this is the one that the most of people will have watched or recognise. The Hangover is a 2009 film directed by Todd Phillips about four friends who travel to Los Angeles to celebrate one of their forthcoming nuptials. Things go a little out of hand, and when they wake up the morning after the bachelor party, they can’t quite put everything together and realise they’ve gone a little too far!
It’s a definite must-see!
Number 6. Groundhog Day
Groundhog Day is ranked sixth. Many people, I believe, have gone through something similar at some point in their lives, which is why this film is so relatable and entertaining. Bill Murray portrays Phill Connors, a TV weatherman tasked with covering the annual Groundhog Day celebration.
Number 5. Caddyshack.
This American sports comedy from 1980 is the first in our top five. Brian Doyle Murray directed Caddyshack, which he co-wrote with Harrold Ramis and Douglass Kenny. The video follows a young Caddy who is down on his luck as he works as a caddy at a posh country club to save money for college.
Number 4) The Blazing Saddles.
Blazing Saddles, a western comedy film released in 1974, was nominated for three Academy Awards. It’s about the first black sheriff in a little frontier town called “Rock Ridge.
Number 3. The Legend of Ron Burgundy
There’s not much else to say except that it’s amusing. If you like Will Ferrel, you should see this movie if you haven’t already.
Number 2) Airplane.
Airplane is a satirical comedy that makes a mockery of all disaster movies from the 1970s
Number 1. Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
The classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail takes first place on our ranking of the funniest movies of all time.
